Brayden Löw

Model: Brayden Löw
Used for: Portraiture Photography (Indoors & Outdoors)
Model Type: Freelance
Actual Profession: Junior A (BCHL) Ice Hockey Player

Shoot #1: Male Model Photo Shoot (Studio)

Hockey player turned model for the day.  Versatility... an excellent attribute.

This shoot was completed in a short 45 minutes, mainly due to the fact that Brayden didn't need much directing.  What I really wanted to do was to capture his brilliantly unique personality and portray it visually.

Except for the one conversion, from street clothes to suit-and-tie, there were no additional clothing changes, except for Brayden 'loosing' his tie.  I wanted to capture him in a natural way and photographed him as he came.  No styling necessary really.

Props and Wardrobe used during the shoot:
-  Black Pin-Stripe Suit with white dress-shirt and tie.

Photographic Equipment used during shoot:
-  Camera:
Canon 60D
-  Studio Lights: AlienBees™ B800 Flash Units x2
-  Seamless Background Paper, white from B&H
-  White flooring (compressed wood sheet painted white)

Shoot #2: Male Model Natural Light Photo Shoot (Outdoor)

It seems Ice Hockey Players are more comfortable in 'cold conditions' than photographers.  We booked this shoot when it seemed Spring was on it's way and the temperature had risen to +10C, only to be left shooting in minus 8C and my fingerless gloves was off course nowhere to be found.

This shoot was completed in 30 minutes.  This time due to the fact that I had lost almost all feeling in my fingers after the first 10 minutes.  I must give credit to Brayden as he definitely contributed to 'keeping it short'.  Brayden again took direction well (the very little I had to give) and was mainly captured 'Being Brayden in Minus 8'.  There were no clothing changes.  It was far too cold for that and there were no facilities available nearby.

Despite just escaping frost-bite and a few 'slips' on an icy bridge performed ever so elegantly by myself... this sure was a very successful shoot.

Props and Wardrobe used during the shoot:
-  Dark Blue Jeans
-  G:21 Woolblend Jacket $69.99 from Walmart
-  Hot Paws Wool Scarf $5.00 from Walmart
-  Textures, buildings, bridges and what was available on-site.

Photographic Equipment used during shoot:
-  Camera: Canon 60D
-  Studio Lights: Lens:  Canon EF 70-200mm Zoom Lens

Shoot #3: Male Model Photo Shoot (Studio)

After two successful shoots, I had to ask Brayden back for a third.  This time I went for a more 'dramatic' look by shooting against black with uneven lighting, a dark red/brown background and a window with a snowy wintery outlook.  Some more serious, yet sincere expressions was essential to attain the desired mood.

This shoot was completed in 1 hour with a few wardrobe changes and background changes.

Props and Wardrobe used during the shoot:
-  Black Dress Shirt

-  G:21 Striped T $8.00 from Walmart

Photographic Equipment used during shoot:
-  Camera: Canon 60D
-  Studio Lights: AlienBees™ B800 Flash Units x2
-  Seamless Background Paper, black & dark red/brown from B&H
